Psalm 7 brings accusation, fear, violence, and the desire for Justice into the courtroom of God. The pray-er feels hunted like prey before a lion, yet refuses to become the judge of his own cause. In this episode, we pray for sacred disarmament: the courage to tell the truth, seek Justice, release revenge, and trust YAHWEH to test our hearts and hold our cause.

YAHWEH, be my Safe Covering.
Test my heart and hold my cause.
Psalm 7 expands the early rhythm of prayer into the courtroom of God. The community now brings accusation, innocence, violence, and Justice before YAHWEH.
The pray-er feels hunted, almost like prey before a lion. But instead of becoming judge, jury, and executioner, the pray-er brings the whole cause into the presence of God.
In the Messiah’s voice, Psalm 7 is the prayer of the innocent sufferer who refuses to become the judge of his own cause. Jesus knows false accusation. Jesus knows violence. Jesus knows what it is to be hunted, mocked, condemned, and handed over. But Jesus does not overcome evil by becoming evil.
Followers of Jesus are invited to notice the difference between seeking Justice and grasping for revenge.
Psalm 7 does not ask us to pretend harm is harmless. It does not ask us to silence rage. It does not tell the wounded to hurry past the truth. It gives the truth somewhere holy to go.
This Psalm teaches sacred disarmament.
The rage is spoken.
The harm is named.
The enemy is not denied.
The longing for accountability is not erased.
But the weapon is handed over.
Psalm 7 also invites honest self-examination: “If there is Twisting in my hands, show me.” It does not let enemy-language become self-righteousness. It asks God to end the evil of the Twisted, including wherever Twisting has taken root in us.
May YAHWEH be your refuge when you feel pursued.
May the Holy One Pull out your Being from the mouth of the lion.
May God test your heart with mercy and hold your cause with Justice.
May the pit of violence close beneath your feet before you fall into it.
And may you shine-back thanks to YAHWEH, the One Lifted Above All.
