Mountains slip, waters roar, and kingdoms shake. Psalm 46 gives the community a refrain to speak amid the noise: “YAHWEH of armies is with us.” John, Ramona, and Paula follow the waters of Psalm 42 into the river that gladdens the city of God, then listen with Jesus in the boat amid the storm. “Stop Striving” comes after God breaks bows, spears, and war wagons and makes wars cease. This is a prayer for refuge in God’s presence and for the ending of violence. In the Lord’s Prayer, we turn to the Father for steadiness, ask for our real needs, receive love we did not earn, and return for Rescue when fear rises again.
