What do we pray when we do not know the way forward? Psalm 25 begins a new movement in the Psalter, bringing us from the arrival of the King of Glory in Psalm 24 back to the ground-level life of discipleship. The prayer asks to be taught, forgiven, led, and rescued. In this episode, we listen to Psalm 25 from exile, from the tangled places of our lives today, and in the voice of Jesus, discovering that we do not have to know the whole road to walk with the One whose paths are Persistent-Love and Faithfulness.
YAHWEH, teach us Your Way.

Psalm 24 ended with the gates opening and the King of Glory coming in. Psalm 25 brings us back down to the ground and asks what comes next.
There is still a Way to walk.
Psalm 1 began the Psalter with two Ways: the Way of the Aligned and the way of the Twisted. Now, in Psalms 25–28, the Messiah begins to show us what walking the Way actually looks like.
Psalm 25 begins with a humble request:
Your Ways, YAHWEH,
make known to me.
Your paths,
teach me.
This is not a prayer asking God to confirm the path we have already chosen. It is the prayer of someone willing to become teachable.
Psalm 25 is also an alphabet prayer, an acrostic moving through the Hebrew letters from Aleph toward Tav. But the pattern is not mechanically perfect. The Psalm also brings our past into the presence of God:
The violations of my youth
and my rebellions,
do not remember.
According to Your Persistent-Love
remember me.
Confession happens inside belonging. We do not tell the truth about ourselves to earn love. We bring the truth into a Persistent-Love older than our failures.
For people praying from Babylon, Psalm 25 becomes a prayer of re-formation. The old map is gone. Land, Temple, king, and stability have been lost. The community must learn the Way again.
We may know that experience too. A relationship changes. A season ends. A plan fails. Certainty disappears. We genuinely do not know what comes next.
Psalm 25 does not shame us for not knowing.
It teaches us to pray:
Teach me.
Forgive me.
Turn toward me.
Bring me out.
Keep my Being.
And in Jesus, the Way becomes more than an idea. The Way has a body, a voice, and a face.
The Spirit of Adoption reminds us that we are not spiritual orphans trying to navigate the road alone. Children do not need to know the whole road. They need to know whose hand they are holding.
All the paths of YAHWEH
are Persistent-Love
and Faithfulness.
May YAHWEH make His paths known to you.
May the Messiah walk with you when the Way is unclear.
May Persistent-Love hold your past and your next step.
And may you find Faithfulness beneath your feet.
